| DESCRIPTION | This common core course introduces how chemistry connects with daily life, aiming for equipping students with a solid chemical knowledge foundation and living a healthy lifestyle. The principles of fundamental chemistry as well as topics of everyday relevance will be presented and discussed in lectures, including air, water, metals, food, minerals and materials, batteries, fire and fuels, household chemical products, and global environmental changes. Through an individual-based research and a group-based demonstration, students will learn to elevate chemical literacy through observing real-life cases. The learning outcomes from this course will prepare students for the ability to make critical judgements when exposed to new scientific and technical issues. |
